Dinner and Dakota
Tobin and I were looking at our Google calendar on Friday night and realized that we had a play to attend on Saturday. (We have season tickets to the Seattle Rep.) Suprise! The Blue Door.
We thought it was going to be pretty lame, but it turned out to be better than we thought. Which was good ’cause we really had to make an effort to make it there on time! The suspension bridge on 99 was up (of course, always happens when we’re in a hurry), and then I’m not sure WHAT was going on at the Seattle Center this weekend, but there were tons of people – and a bunch of cheerleaders running around – weird. lol And because there were a lot of people at the Center, it was a tad difficult to find parking.
Anyways, after the play we met up with Stephen and Heather who were visiting the Seattle Science Center (we have a yearly pass there too), and caught the monorail downtown for dinner. First though, we stopped by Stephen and Heather’s hotel room (yeah they decided to spend the night). They stayed at the Westin (I think) and it was really nice. They were on the 42nd floor, and had quite the view.
We had no idea where we wanted to go for dinner – Stephen wanted to do Ivars, but we do that everytime we go to Seattle, so the rest of us wanted to do something different. We ended up flipping a quarter, and then doing exactly opposite of the coin flip. We ended up at the Pike Place Brewery. It was pretty fun. We all enjoyed our food which is always nice. I had King Salmon and it was spicy – super spicy! I gave Stephen and Tobin a bite, and they both started sweating. lol It was good though (if you like spicy food). :)
After dinner we caught the monorail back to the Center, and went home.
Sunday was church. Church started just like any other Sunday, but just when the special speaker was about ready to give his sermon, the fire alarm went off! We had to evacuate the building (we’re meeting in a school), so I ended up leaving to go to Kristen Buchmann’s baby shower (in Issaquah). I ended up following Kristen to the condo where the shower was being held (thank goodness, ’cause Google maps let me down on the directions!).
Kristen is so cute. She’s due in about 3 weeks I think. You can’t even tell she’s pregnant unless you look at her side profile. :) I’m sure Dusty is super excited. We played some games at the shower – one in which we all had to taste five different kinds of baby food and guess what they were. Yuck! I didn’t win (a new mom who was there did) – the “foods” were: squash, green beans and rice, lasagna, turkey with vegetables, and strawberry banana. I can’t believe that at one point I used to eat that stuff. :)
After the shower, I drove to Frys and picked up a new webcam for Tobin. He “needed” one for his online class. It is pretty funny. I set it all up last night. You can add things to the webcam (like a fro, or glasses, etc.). I called up my parents and had a lot of fun showing them all the effects (I think they want a webcam now).
Well that was my weekend. In case you’re looking for wedding pictures from last weekend, you can check out the photo gallery here (color pics) and here (black and white).
Oh, and in case you’re wondering about the title – Dinner and Dakota… Well Dakota is going to be the name of Kristen and Dusty’s baby boy. :)
