Shot this pic tonight of Tobin at our youth event, BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair). :)

Saturday, March 31st, 2007Baby Buchmann
Friday, March 30th, 2007Our friends, Dusty and Kristen Buchmann, had little baby boy, Dakota, on March 10. Seeing as they were brand new parents with no free time (or sleep for that matter), I offered to make them a baby website. I just finished it last night.
What do you think? Go check it out at dkbuchmann.com. (more…)
Springtime!
Friday, March 30th, 2007With the last few weeks being as difficult as they have been, emotionally, it’s really nice to see everything starting to bloom. Our backyard gets NO sun, so it seems like everything takes a little longer to bloom in our yard. (In fact if you look at our house on Google Maps, it’s just a black spot of shade – nice.) Anyways, the Camellia in the backyard is starting to bloom, and it is really pretty.
Week Recap
Thursday, March 29th, 2007Wow, last week was REALLY hard. If you read my blog, you know that we had a good friend go to be with the Lord a little over a week ago, so life has been pretty emotional since. Sean’s funeral was on Saturday. I made the memorial video for that. The video took most of my free time last week, which is why I haven’t posted for awhile. It is so sad that our time here on earth with Sean has ended, but it is so wonderful that he is now with the Lord. He beat us all… Anyways, the funeral was bittersweet. We laughed, we cried. It was a good time that we all needed. The hardest thing about the funeral was that it was open-casket. I think we all needed that for closure, but it was so hard. My heart just goes out to the Vanderhoffs and their family.
Fortunately, Margie Lou came over to visit on Friday. My parents brought her, so we were able to spend some good family time on Friday at Stephen and Heathers. We had a Teriyaki platter (yum), and then played Halo 2 on Stephen’s XBox. He got some sort of an expansion so there were all sorts of different maps we hadn’t played before. So that was fun (even though I HATE video games, I have to admit that it was fun). :)
Illuminate
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007Last night we had Illuminate. For those of you who don’t know, that’s our youth group (7th – 12th grades). We knew it was going to be super hard, especially since Sean’s had such a positive impact there for the last few months. He’d been leading the games/activities prior to youth, and that was a perfect fit. He did a great job!
Youth was hard, but it was good. We started with worship… Christina lead and did a great job. She told the group that even though we’re dealing with grief right now, we still need to worship. It’s true. Worship time was really good. We sang Beautiful One, Evermore, We Fall Down, No Sacrifice, and Wonderful Maker. No Sacrifice was a real tear jerker. It just felt like each and every line of that song was speaking to us.
Day Three
Monday, March 19th, 2007Well today starts the third full day of life without Sean Vanderhoff. Today seems especially hard, ’cause it’s back to work… I can only imagine how sad the Vanderhoff family is today. Sean would probably have gotten home last night from his trip, and be available today to give his sister’s rides to/from school.
By now the shock is wearing off, and the real grief is starting to settle in. I pretty much cried through the whole worship service at church yesterday, then didn’t cry too much the rest of the day, but today I made it 8 minutes into work, and when a coworker asked me about my weekend, the tears started flowing again.
R.I.P. Sean Vanderhoff
Saturday, March 17th, 2007This weekend has been so hard emotionally. Sean Vanderhoff, the son of our pastor, and a close friend of Tobin and I passed away late last night in a car accident. We’re really torn up about this. For a few summers there, I almost thought that Sean lived with us – he was here all the time. He, Tobin and Terry really enjoyed hanging out together. So when we got the news last night it was such a shock – it was all so sudden. I don’t think that anyone is ever really ready for death – but with someone so young (Sean just turned 20 earlier this month), it’s especially difficult. And when it’s someone you’re close to, your heart just aches.
Dew Drops
Thursday, March 15th, 2007Spring is less than a week away (though with daylight savings going into effect, it seems like it’s already here). Everything is sprouting and growing – what a great time of the year.
Marine View
Wednesday, March 14th, 2007Stephen and I went to Marine View Espresso yesterday. It’s been bought and sold several times in the last few years, but we still enjoy going there.
