Adventures with Amtrak

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

5:58 pm
I am sitting on the Amtrak right now… Yep, my first train ride in a really long time! I think that the last time I rode a real train was when I was a very little girl, and Grandpa Mase let me sit on his lap in a BN (Burlington Northern) locomotive. I was really little, but yes I still remember it! :) Made a big impression.

Space Needle by Night

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Well last weekend was a pretty quiet one. We hung out with Stephen and Heather a bit, and ended up doing a bunch of homework. Church went well on Sunday. I’m trying to figure out how I can get a good copy of the audio and start podcasting for NLC. Anyways, Sunday night Tobin and I drove up to Seattle where we met one of my classmates – Chris, and bought a textbook from him. We met at the Space Needle, and I shot this pic.

Saturday and Sunday in Seattle

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

IMG_0817This weekend meant the end of my Spring Break, but I have to say that it all ended pretty well. My Eastern-Washington-dwelling family came over on Friday night, and spent the weekend here. It was good to get to hang out with everyone! Margie Lou stayed with Stephen and Heather, and my parents’ hotel was in Fife so we ended up being at or around Stephen and Heather’s house for much of the IMG_2430weekend.

Saturday morning we all had breakfast at Stephen and Heather’s (minus our father who had meetings to attend). We had quiche, pancakes and eggs (yum!). After breakfast we headed into Tacoma to drop off some parts for Daddy. We ended up stopping by the Tacoma Arboretum again (at Wright Park), so my mom and sister could enjoy it. We all took lots and lots of pictures. :) I had my camera, Mommy had Daddy’s, and Heather and Margie Lou both had cameras as well. I guess the boys just weren’t with it like us girls were! :)

I though this was a super-cute pic of Stephen and Heather. :)

Spring Break

Friday, April 13th, 2007

IMG_2049Tobin’s been on his Spring Break this week, so I took a few days off. Unfortunately I’ve been sick for the last couple days, so we had to change our plans a bit. We ended up doing a few day trips, and Tobin really celebrated our anniversary yesterday by sitting through his night class (fun!). :)

I was so sick on Tues I stayed home from work and youth. Wed I was feeling a bit better (no temp, just a bad cold), so we headed up to Mt. Vernon to check out the tulip festival up there. IMG_2222It was pretty cool. For some reason I’ve never been through there when the tulips are actually in bloom, so this was a first for me. I really liked it! I’m not so sure it was the best thing to do though, ’cause I felt more sick after that day than I had going into it. Bummer. I posted pictures from the tulip fields in the gallery, so go check them out if you wish.

Thursday was our anniversary. Because Tobin had his night class at 5:30 we didn’t have a day trip, but we did meet Stephen at Gallianos for lunch. That was fun. I needed a down day because of being sick. I’d like to say I’m better now, but that’s just not the case. *sigh*

He is Risen

Monday, April 9th, 2007

He is risen indeed! Happy Easter! Hope you had a great one. :)

Today in church, Pastor reflected about God willingly giving up His one and only son, and how tough that must have been. Pastor Gary knows that all to much now that he’s lost his one and only son, Sean. How great is God’s love for us that He sent His son to die for us – sinners! Easter is a time of celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. That is the basis for our faith – that Jesus died for our sins, but then rose again. This Easter, more than any other before, has taken on a really special meaning. While we celebrate Jesus being raisIMG_1832ed from the dead today, we can also take comfort that those of us who believe in Jesus will one day also be resurrected. This means that though Sean is gone, because the Lord was his savior, we’ll see him again someday in Heaven.

Well this weekend was pretty rainy. Sad, because Friday was SO nice! It was nearly 80 I think on Friday, and all sunny. Man I love the sun! :) I left work early on Friday to watch Tobin’s basketball game. His school has an annual 8th graders vs. Teachers basketball game. I’ve missed every one up to this point, so I really wanted to try and make it this year. It was a lot of fun. I ended up being sandwiched between a bunch of 6th graders all waving their purple and gold pom poms. Though the teachers lost last year, this year they won, so that was good. :) Tobin’s a lot more fun to be around when he’s a winner. haha

Seattle and Yardwork

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

What did we do this weekend? Well on Friday night, we headed down to Stephen and Heathers for dinner. Stephen made some really good beef that he’d had cooking for most of the day. It was excellent. We also played some games on the XBox. Saturday was a repeat of the Saturday before, ‘cept instead of going to Seattle with my parents and sister, we went with my brother and his wife. We had a good time (and this time the Viaduct was open!).

IMG_1173We went and watched Meet the Robinsons in 3d. That was fun – I think that 3d movies can keep your attention (at least mine) just for the fact that they are in 3d. But this was a well-done movie, I really liked it. It had a good message. Our friends went and watched it in 2d, and they also really liked it. I’ve included Tobin (and Margie Lou’s) favorite clip from the movie after the break.
