Good Morning!

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

If you’re in the western United States, you should go outside RIGHT NOW and look at the lunar eclipse! :) That’s what we just did! lol

Yep, Tobin called up Terry & Stina and asked them if they wanted to come over at 3 this morning to see the eclipse. OK, so maybe it wasn’t exactly asking, but hey whatever he said worked, ’cause they did in fact show up at 3! We drove our cars up to McMicken Heights Elementary (where our church is meeting), and watched the eclipse.

Awesome Weekends 2

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

2007-08-11-Banks-46So the last post caught you up on what we did 2 weekends ago, but what about last weekend? Well last weekend was spent in EPHRATA (you know, the most AWESOME place on earth!). :)

I should go back and say that August 5-10, Tobin was GONE at camp. You have to understand that this is about the one time a year that we’re separated for any length of time. What did I do while he was gone you ask?

2007-08-11-Banks-24Well besides work, work, work (I’ve been doing a ton of stuff at work), I also worked on a website, and cleaned the house – THE ENTIRE HOUSE. Yep, the house twas spotless when Tobin got home. (And boy was he surprised.) I’ve been reading Fly Ladies off and on, and finally just decided to do a massive clean. So now we’re looking for a twin bunk bed or loft bed to put in the laundry room – so we can actually have people crash at our place (instead of forcing them to sleep on the couch or the beanbag!). lol (more…)

Awesome Weekends 1

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

It’s been awhile since I’ve really written something on my blog, so I think I better give you an update on what’s been going on in my life…

20070803-35After working most of the summer and really not heading over to Ephrata all that much, the weekends in August sure have been fun. If you remember, 3 weekends ago I was in Ephrata, enjoying the sun and the water. Then 2 weekends ago Margie Lou and her bf Kevin came over.

We had a lot of fun. They got here on Friday, and we ended up going out to dinner at Gorditos in the University District. It was a little Mexican restaurant, and man was it good! The nachos were especially good. From there we headed over to Jet City Improv and watched the late (10:30) show. Always funny. :) (more…)

New Release

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Back when I had oodles of time I enjoyed working through Photoshop tutorials that I found across the web. I wish I still had that kind of time (not sure where it all went), but I did read a post at Photojojo about cool tutorials, and thought I’d give one a go. I learned a little about fill layers (I’d always done this a different way), so that was nice.

Here’s the final product…

KOMO-TV / Blogger Meetup

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

So tonight, Tobin and I headed over to Fisher Plaza for the KOMO-TV Blogger Meetup. :) It was quite fun. Last year I drug Tobin along to a TechCrunch party that he felt a bit out of place at. But this time, he said he really enjoyed it. Everyone was really friendly.

Illuminate 2.0

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

On Tuesday, I re-launched Illuminate’s site. If you don’t already know, Illuminate is the youth group of Neighborhood Life Center that Tobin and I help another couple lead.

Anyways we announced the launch at youth on Tuesday and the kids were all pretty excited. The new site has all the features of the old, but now students can easily see the latest comments and page back through them (thanks to some AJAX performed using the JQuery library). That’s pretty slick. I also added the ability for students to rate pictures (from 1-10). Then the top rated photos show up on the main photos page.

Ephrata

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

So last weekend was spent in the sun in good ol’ Ephrata. Yep, I caught a ride to Ephrata with Heather. She pulled her parent’s boat over (my parent’s boat needs some love).

So you can guess what we did… We took the boat out all day Saturday! :) Yep 5-6 hours in the wonderful sun on the water. Can it get any better than that? So my tan is a bit improved now… Gotta love EASTERN WASHINGTON!
